The 6th Meeting of Young Researchers in African Studies
On the 27th and 29th June 2022, the 6th Meeting of Young Researchers in African Studies (JCEA) will be held on the theme "Les Afriques facing the crises ? Ruptures and continuities". The event will take place on campus at the University Toulouse Jean-Jaurès, alongside with the 7th African Studies Meeting in France "Rencontres des Études Africaines en France (REAF)".
Since its first edition in January 2013, the JCEA has been dedicated to bringing together young researchers and PhDs working on African issues or linked historically, geographically or politically to the continent. By proposing a vast survey of the work of young researchers, the JCEA aims to bring together all the disciplines of the humanities and social sciences in order to describe the complex history, ancient and contemporary, of Africa. They also intend to provide a forum for exchanges and debates bringing together young researchers, sometimes isolated or working in laboratories that are often not Africanist.
The theme chosen for this edition, "Les Afriques facing the crises ? Ruptures and continuities" is meant to be all-encompassing and the notion of crisis can be understood in various ways: economic, health, social, identity, environmental, etc.
